MANITOULIN WILD EDIBLES & MEDICINALS - Home -
My new website.
OUCH!!! My poor Rocky got it in the face from a Porcupine on Saturday. $1100 and 411 Quills later he is better, but we are finding more everyday. I hope he is ok…If you are looking at this please send my dog some white light, positive energy, or well wishes!
I can only hope and pray none of the quills are overlooked and migrate to his vitals!
I love him way too much….
He is the reason my life has changed.
Green Blessings…and watch out for Porcupines!!!

Lets be neighbors.
Stoke the fire…have a seat!
It’s always a good time to let others know how you feel about them, and your relationship with them!
Yesterday, as I was on my way to pick up my partner from work in Wikwemikong, a dog ran out in front of my car. It happened so fast…I braked, ran clear over the dog, then fishtailed, then trying to regain control of my car my front wheels sunk into the soft shoulder and my car rolled, then flipped end over end down into a steep embankment.
As my car left the ground, I can remember Diana Krall singing on CBC Live, and it almost seemed as if gravity had left the inside of my car and time slowed right down for an instance. My husky was with me in the car, and all I kept thinking was “grab Rocky!”
The car settled on its now caved in roof. My dog and I exchanged a knowing look of “are you OK?” I calmly, as if I had rehearsed the escape a thousand times, turned off the car. Undid my seatbelt, grabbed the dog, and climbed out the across the ceiling of my car out the only working door through the back.
Marjorie and Ken P. were first on the scene to comfort, and support. They called the police and gave me a smoke! I thank them greatly!
It wasn’t until after I was home and got off the phone with the insurance company that it hit me…
I needed to take stock of life! I needed to run all my checks and balances with my friends and family. I needed to return to a place of “every moments a good moment”!
I walked away from that crumpled car unscathed, with my dog intact and with a renewed sense of gratitude that was much needed.
Everyone needs a nudge…What will yours be?
i hope you dont mind me posting a couple photos from manitoulin that i took this weeekend?
